Create Rubrik SLAs from a CSV File

If you own a Brik, you are familiar with creating new SLAs as it is one of the first things you would do after getting a Brik deployed.

In the world of Rubrik, everything is build around Service Level Agreements. With Rubrik’s unique approach to use SLAs for Backup and Recovery tasks, we have dramatically simplified the Backup Admin’s daily work. Traditionally a Backup Admin would create multiple backup jobs for full, incremental, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly backups. Additionally the backup admin would create some archival and replication jobs. With Rubrik’s SLA approach all of this can done within a single SLA and dramatically simplify the operational overhead associated with backup jobs.

Sometimes, a single or even a handful of SLAs might not be enough. In this case using the Rubrik interface becomes time-consuming. Luckily Rubrik has an API-First Architecture which means everything you can do in the GUI, can also be done via the APIs.

To make Rubrik’s API even easier to digest, we have a build-in API Explorer. You can get access to it via https:///docs/v1/playground

Datrium DVX 101 – Adding Hosts

After covering the NetShelf setup in Datrium DVX 101 – NetShelf Setup a few weeks back, it is time to cover the host setup.

In order to add an ESXi host to a Datrium DVX, it has to meet the following requirements:

  • ESXi 5.5 U2 or later
  • Minimum of 2 cores for the Datrium Hyperdriver
  • Minimum of 7.5 GiB memory for the Datrium Hyperdriver
    • ~2.5 GiB memory for each additional terabyte of flash
  • At least one 800 GB SSD or 2x 400 GB SSDs

The actual process of adding a host to the Datrium DVX is easy and only a few mouse-clicks away.

  1. Open the Datrium GUI within the vSphere Web-Client
  2. Browse to Hosts and Clusters and select the host you would like to set up
  3. Go to Monitor -> Datrium DVX and hit Install

Recap of VMworld 2016

We have survived VMworld 2016 and it was  a blast!!!

It was great to meet many old friends and make some new friends.

Overall, the show was great even tho I am  not a big fan of the location at the Mandalay Bay Event Center. Moscone Center became familiar over the past years and I feel it is easier to navigate through.

Since I have been mainly busy at the Datrium booth, I haven’t seen much else of VMworld. For the folks who didn’t get a chance to take a look at the our booth, below are some pictures of what you have missed out on.

Datrium DVX Introduces Insane Performance

Datrium just announced a brand new feature of the Datrium DVX – Insane Mode for Insane Performance.

The Datrium DVX Insane Mode allows VMware admins to quickly increase the storage performance by up to 2x, without any storage controller upgrade… I know it sounds too good to be true but the Datrium DVX is truly INSANE!
