VMware ESXi 6.0 Update 2 is out

VMware released ESXi 6.0 Update 2 on March 15th 2016. This release has a couple important bug fixes for ESXi hosts.

  • Hostd stops responding when esxcli commands are executed using PowerCLI

 

  • ESXi host experiences a purple diagnostic screen with multiple Correctable Machine Check Interrupt (CMCI) messages
    • The purple screen will show something similar to:

  • ESXi host with Netflow function enabled in VXLAN environment might fail with a purple diagnostic screen
    • The purple screen will show something similar to:

  • Hostd logs flooded with error message multiple times in quick succession
    • The following VSI messages have been resolved:
      Failed to get vsi stat set: Sysinfo error on operation returned status : Not found. Please see the VMkernel log for detailed error information.

 

  • Hostd randomly stops responding on hosts with 3D acceleration
    hostd.log might show something similar to:

  1. Had issues upgrading our two vcenter. First one we had to disable the syslog server and replace XML file before everything was back in operational status.

    On second vcenter we actually had to revert to the prior snapshot because of numerous issues installing components. In testing, we had to stop all VC services and then install components manually. Ended up taking logs and sending back to Tier 1 so they can develop plan of action.

    Tech informed me that lots of things have changed and he had not tested on this version.
